Five Things You Need to Know About Norwalk: May 27

Gas rewards, dental care, garbage pick-up, BooZoo's Carnival and one heckuva big scholarship award.

  1. If you see Norwalk High School senior Lorena R. Sferlazza (she'll be the one walking around with a wide grin), congratulate her: She's won the $100,000 Kevin M. Eidt Memorial Scholarship.
  2. Have you heard about the Gas Rewards program? Well if not check it out. Last week I saved $1.10 off per gallon with my gas points!
  3. No dental insurance? Then head over to All Smiles on July 29 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. they will provide free cleanings, fillings and extractions for Norwalk residents. For more information call 203- 908-3170. Mark it on your calendar.
  4. BooZoo's Canine Carnival arrives at on Saturday June 4 and Sunday June 5, from 10 - 5 p.m. "A fun-filled, hands-on, two-day educational event that promotes early childhood development, reading literacy and inter-generational learning between children, parents and caregivers. All proceeds support early childhood initiatives."
  5. Trash pick up changes for Monday, May 30 (see more Memorial Day weekend openings and closings information .) Per the city's website, "Garbage normally picked up on Monday May 30th, will be picked up on Tuesday May 31. Regular Tuesday routes will also be picked up on Tuesday. Recycling normally picked up on Monday, May 30 will be picked up on Saturday, June 4. The Transfer Station and Yard Waste Site will be closed on Monday, May 30 and reopen on Tuesday, May 31." Plan accordingly.
