Five Things You Need to Know About Norwalk: May 25

New Firefighters, School Survey, Award, Art Show and Kayak and Canoe Safety Awareness.

  1. In continuance of “Kayak and Canoe Safety Awareness Week” for the City of Norwalk and the Town of Wilton. On Thursday, May 26 The Outdoor Sport Center of Wilton will host a free safety presentation at the Norwalk Sailing School at . Demonstrations will include use of basic safety equipment, the correct use of different kinds of boats and in-water capsize rescue techniques.
  2. I filled mine out this morning! The Norwalk Public Schools are conducting an on-line survey for parents. "The NPS Parent Survey is an important source of information about what you think about your child’s school. These findings will assist in focusing our school improvement efforts. This is the fist time that such a survey has been done and will provide a good baseline. The results of this survey will be shared with staff and parents through meetings in the fall. All responses are anonymous and confidential."
  3. Congratulations and welcome to Chad Boudreau, Jesse Granton, Ryan Hart, Thomas Reich and Michael Vinci the five new Norwalk Fire Department recruits. Vinci is a 2004 graduate of Norwalk High School and attended Norwalk Community College.
  4. The in Rowayton is hosting its 49th annual Art Show June 9 through 12. Featuring over 100 local and nationally recognized artists with 40 percent of all art proceeds benefiting CCNS and of course purchases are tax deductible.
