Five Things You Need to Know About Norwalk: June 30

Safety tips for the 4th of July weekend and much more.

  1. The Fire Department has put together a list of safety tips for the 4th of July weekend and also pretty smart tips for all Summer. Items covered are water/pool safety, firework safety and grilling safety. For the complete list of information click above.
  2. will begin their events July 6 and every Wednesday thereafter until Aug. 31. The cruise begins at 6:30 and ends at 8:30 p.m. "Join us for one of the most exciting tours that the Norwalk Harbor Islands area has to offer! During this unforgettable adventure tour of outer reaches of Norwalk Harbor providing unique views of the city and the surrounding waterways." $18 per person.
  3. Starting today the will begin a series of "short films-of-the-week for children ages 3 - 5 from 10 to 11 a.m. All short films are based on children's books.  The first film will be "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." Following the film will be a craft during which children retell the story through a series of questions to build their own caterpillar.  This program is free. " 
  4. For the third Summer season the Nature Center at Sherwood Island State Park has opened its doors. It offers aquariums, terrariums, intertidal tanks and a touch tank. Activities for families and children include nature walks, beach fishing, crafts and games. Fun for everyone!
  5. The 41st annual River Ramble in , Rowayton will be held on Saturday, July 9 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The event is the largest fundraiser for the Rowayton Civic Association and helps finance events such as the Memorial Day Parade, Fireworks, Summer Music Festival and more. The day will be filled with fun festivities for kids with a petting zoo, bouncy castle, water slide, obstacle course and dunk tank. Adults will enjoy local vendors selling art, accessories, jewelry, gifts and Rowayton logo gear, a live auction and much more.  Food, refreshments and live musical entertainment.
