Five Things You Need to Know About Norwalk: June 28

Check out the Independence Day events, plus more.

  1. Don't forget Norwalk will celebrate the 4th of July on Sunday the 3rd at Calf Pasture Beach. Per City Halls website the festivities begin at 4 p.m. with Dance to the Music with DJ Nuzzo at Shady Beach, 6 p.m. Beau Badrick performs his new up and coming hits and at 8 p.m. “BIG SHOT” the ultimate Billy Joel Tribute band - also playing after the fireworks. A parking fee of $20 per car will be charged for vehicles without a Norwalk beach sticker. FIREWORKS are at DUSK.
  2. The fun doesn't end on the 3rd join the for their Independence Day Celebration on the 4th of July. The festivities begin at noon with two events, an Open House at and a Revolutionary War tour of historic Cemetery. Continue from there at 1:30 p.m. to the Historic Norwalk Green - Let Freedom Ring! National Bell Ringing Ceremony and at 2:15 p.m. loop back around to the Town House Museum program back at .
  3. The Rowayton Civic Association has begun its Summer Music Festival at Bailey Beach. The next event is Saturday, July 2 - the same day as the Rowayton Fireworks - with the rock band King For A Day performing. The festival begins at 5:30 p.m. and is sponsored by All Season Marine Works and Nielsen's Florist.
  4. We can't believe it's true, the Meerkats are turning 2! Their actual birthday is July 4th but will celebrate promptly at 10:30 a.m. this Friday. Come watch them enjoy their special tiered organic, cricket-filled birthday “cake". 
  5. A cruise and a clambake on a remote island. Doesn't that sound like the perfect Thursday night? The Norwalk Seaport Association will ferry you and other passengers "to the historic 1868 Lighthouse for their famous . A true New England dining experience, the evening allows participants to dine in the festive tented pavilion on the lighthouse lawn, with tours of the lighthouse itself included in the cost. Round-trip cruise and dinner is either $58 or $78 per person, depending on entree. Advance registration only."
