Five Things You Need to Know About Norwalk: June 24

Check out today's Five Things for a howling good time!

  1. Friday night is Astronomy Night at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center. "Head to the observatory for a real treat as we explore the night sky, planets, stars and more! Start by enjoying a presentation on monster telescopes, followed by a visit to view the night sky through our 22-inch telescope. The presentation portion of the program will be held rain or shine. Viewing hours are weather permitting." Members are free and non-members adults $3, children (5-17) $2. Please no children under 5.The show starts at promptly at 7:30 p.m.
  2. Head on up to the Wolf Conservation Center. in South Salem, NY. The new pups will make you howl! Tonight at 6:30 they will host an Evening Howl for "Pups" of all Ages! Saturday they will have two events, at 11 a.m.Wolf Pup 101, adults are $13 and children (under 12) are $11. Then at 7 p.m there will be an Evening Howl for Adults Only, wine and cheese will be served for $20 per person. These events fill up quick so check their calendar for the next one if you miss out this weekend.
  3. Attention, boaters: "The CT DEP announced that Environmental Conservation Police Marine law enforcement officers will participate in Operation Dry Water and will be out in force June 24-26 looking for boaters with a blood alcohol content exceeding the state limit of .08%. Operation Dry Water will include state wide increased patrols and checkpoints, as well as boater education. Impaired boaters can expect penalties to be severe. In Connecticut they include fines, jail and loss of boating privileges."
  4. This weekend only at the Carriage House Arts Center at the Gallagher Estate in Cranbury Park, Terry Eldh will perform Broadway favorites. She has played the role of Carlotta in the Broadway company of The Phantom of the Opera over 100 times and has graced many more stages in her career. Ticket prices are $20 for the 8 p.m. Saturday show and $15 for the one at 4 p.m. Sunday. Both shows include wine and cheese at intermission.
  5. If all goes well this morning, to expand, fix and improve the and its exhibits. Wow, can you imagine it better than it is now?
