Five Things You Need to Know About Norwalk: June 23

So much to do this weekend!

  1. The band Remember September will perform a benefit concert for on Saturday, June 25 at . Also shining on stage will be Rubberband, a group of performers from STAR itself. Doors open at 4 p.m. (Check out the attached video.)
  2. The 5-Mile Race portion of the is this Sunday,  June 26 at . Remember the race begins at 8 a.m. and don't forget to stretch.
  3. Downunder Rowayton will host a Dog Paddle Fundraiser to help raise funds to buy more "doggy" bags for the Rowayton Dog Park. From 4 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 26 bring your best four legged friend and they will fit him/her into a life-jacket and onto the board or boat. A $25 donation plus rentals, price includes photos and refreshments, including dog biscuits and lap bowls.
  4. Do you have papers that are piling up? Well pack 'em up because this Saturday On-Site Shredding will get rid of them for you. The Silvermine Community Association Shredding Event will be held on June 25 in the parking lot of the Silvermine Guild Art Center from 9 a.m to 12 p.m. "Your files, boxes and all, will be destroyed and recycled, right in front of your eyes! The best part is that there's no need to separate staples, paper clips, spiral notebooks or binders. The cost is $25 for the first three boxes, $5 for each additional box."
  5. Flip your lid with some Jazz this Sunday, June 26 at the  . From 3 to 6 p.m. Ken Gioffre - who currently plays with Smokey Robinson and B.B. King - will be on Saxophone, Hiroshi Yamazaki on Piano and Bill Moring on Bass. It's free and funky!
