Five Things You Need to Know About Norwalk: July 29

Norwalk High School Marching Bears are hosting the 2nd annual Tag Sale and Flea Market this Saturday and more.

  1. Commerce Street will be closed at the railroad crossing for 24 hours a day through August 3. Traffic from Commerce Street near Wall Street will be detoured to West Avenue, to Leonard Street and back to Commerce. Traffic from Commerce Street near Leonard Street is detoured to West Avenue and then to Wall Street. If that's too confusing, just follow the "Detour" signs. Metro-North needs to work on the rails around the Commerce Street crossing.
  2. The Marching Bears are hosting the this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Andrews Field on County Street. It's a great cause to support and on top if it all you can find some hidden treasures. Enjoy music, face painting, food and beverages and even a dunk tank—featuring NHS principal Leonard Mecca around 11:30 a.m.
  3. You only have until 2 p.m. today to register: Tonight is the Member Beach Party and Concert at Stepping Stones from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. "Enjoy live music, field games, limbo, food and more, all included in registration fee. Featuring a live concert by The Trummytones. $10 per member family price includes entire family $10 per member guest. Space is limited so please register."
  4. kicks off from Calf Pasture Beach on Saturday. "Each year, kayakers join together to cross Long Island Sound and raise money for their favorite charities, most of which work to protect our local waters, environment and community." If you would like to donate check out the website.
  5. Stop by to join in the celebration of from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Performers will demonstrate Colombian folk dancing.
