Five Things You Need to Know About Norwalk: July 12

Get ready for a detour, plus much more.

  1. Here is an early heads-up to anyone who drives the Cross Street / U.S. Rt.1 route daily. There is a scheduled replacement of the rail crossing which means Cross Street will be closed at the railroad crossing from Friday, Aug. 5 to Wednesday, Aug. 10. We'll remind you again closer to the closing.
  2. There is a Common Council Meeting scheduled for tonight from 8 to 10 p.m. at City Hall. They have a large agenda to get through this evening so bring a beverage.
  3. - jazz at its best - will perform at The on Friday from 8 to 10 p.m. They will kick off the 2011 Music/Entertainment series. Tickets for the concert at the Mansion are $25 for members and $35 for non-members. RSVP by July 12.
  4. Looking for a place to discuss your writing? Well the in the Westport Arts Center located at 51 Riverside Avenue is the place for you. At their monthly "Writers' Cafe - come join fellow writers for coffee, talk, and camaraderie." Noon - 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
  5. The is offering conversational Japanese language classes for middle school students. The program will run from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning July 19 through August 11. Classes are limited to 20 students and registration is required.
