Five Things You Need to Know About Norwalk: August 10

Outdoor movies and haunted lighthouses, only in Norwalk.

  1. The Burnham Brothers - who have  opened for Justin Bieber - are playing at Stepping Stones tonight! Doors open at 6 p.m., concert begins at 7 p.m. Tickets $10 in advance, $12 at the door. (Check out their video)
  2. Halloween comes early this year for all you ghostly ghouls. Join the Norwalk Seaport Association for their ''Haunted Sheffield Island Lighthouse” this Saturday and Sunday where creatures of the night will be around every corner. The Haunted Lighthouse activities are free, but a round-trip ferry tickets must be purchased - $22 for adults, $12 for ages 4-12, $5 for ages 3 and younger. The NSA Ferry to Sheffield Island departs at 11a.m., 2 and 3:30 p.m. from the Sheffield Island dock.
  3. The Greater Norwalk Chamber of Commerce, Greater Norwalk Master Builders & Associates and Sound Charter Group are hosting this years "Summer Cruise" aboard the Island Belle. Invite some friends to join you from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. this Thursday as the event will include heavy hors d'oeuvres and open bar for a mere $75 as you cruise the beautiful Long Island Sound. Registration is required.
  4. If you missed them in July then you are in luck. The at the presents for a second time at 4 p.m. today the beautiful sounds of the African drums with Infinite Roots.
  5. What's better than an outdoor movie? Grab a picnic basket filled with your favorite foods and pull up a comfy chair and watch "Despicable Me" on the outdoor big screen at Shady Beach this Saturday at 5:30 p.m. The event is free for cars with a beach pass, otherwise it is $5 per car.
