Connecticut Gas Prices Continue Drop in June

Prices peaked at more than $4 less than two months ago.

Just one month ago, gas prices in Connecticut averaged more than $4 per gallon. Just a week ago, prices were at $3.89. According to the price tracking website Connecticut Gas Prices, the average price at the pump is now down to $3.84.

Nationally, the average is $3.61, while the cheapest in Norwalk is a BP on Westport Ave. The most recent reported price there was $3.75.

According to the Associated Press, the gas prices are “silver lining” in an otherwise weak economy.

On Friday, oil prices plunged nearly 4 percent as a bleak report on U.S. job growth heightened worries about a slowing global economy and waning oil demand. The unemployment rate rose to 8.2 percent from 8.1 percent. Sobering economic news from China and Europe also contributed to the drop.
