Barcelona Wine Bar Hosts Weddings in SoNo

What is your favorite SoNo restaurant?

There have been two weddings at Norwalk’s Barcelona Wine Bar in the past two months.

“You see a lot of love happen here,” Barcelona waitress and prep chef Liz Anderson said of the wine bar that has been in SoNo for 16 years.

The SoNo restaurant is dramatic, with exposed brick and steel, tiles, works of art on the walls, and hundreds of bottles of wine on display.

According to Anderson, the Justice of the Peace was present the night before Valentine’s Day when a man proposed to a woman. The two got married minutes later in a celebration that included the two immediate families, Anderson said.

“It was very sweet. It made my night,” she said.

Last month, a more formal wedding was held in a private room with about 70 people in attendance, Anderson said.

“People always come for dates. Guys try to impress the girls with the nice wine we provide,” Anderson said. “It’s a really romantic atmosphere. We set the mood right.”

The food is delicious, but petit, so you don’t fill up, according to Anderson. The menu is extensive, with an emphasis on tapas (small plates of Spanish delicacies), sherries and wines.
