Homes for the Brave Holiday Collection Sponsored by Norwalk-Village Green Chapter DAR

The Norwalk-Village Green Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will be collecting items for Homes for the Brave this holiday season.

Homes for the Brave, is a 42 bed transitional living facility, located in Bridgeport, CT, that opened in July 2002.  Homes for the Brave has served over 690 homeless male Veterans and non-veterans.  The facility contracts with the CT Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and VA CT Healthcare.  In addition they have a partnership with The WorkPlace, Inc. to provide educational and vocational services.

In 2010 the Homes for the Brave Veterans’ Service Center opened to offer services to meet the immediate basic needs and referrals to meet the long-term needs of any homeless Veteran and starting 2011 these services were expanded to serve female homeless Veterans and their children, through Female Soldiers:  Forgotten Heroes.
