Carlson Wireless CEO to present on White Space technology and deployments at Miami event in January
Norwalk, CT—December 18, 2013—Today TMC and Crossfire Media announced Carlson Wireless Technologies is a presenter at Super Wi-Fi Summit, the global spectrum sharing and TV White Space event, held January 29-31, 2014 in Miami, Florida. The event is a global meeting place for any stake holder interested in understanding how TV White Space and shared spectrum alternatives will drive innovation, new products and new broadband revenue opportunities. Carlson Wireless’ CEO and President Jim Carlson will present two sessions at the event, focusing on White Space devices and commercial rollouts.
Jim Carlson is an engineer and hands-on CEO who has been in the business of rural wireless communications since 1986. In recent months, he was among the key industry partners working directly with the FCC to free up TV White Space for the next generation of rural communication devices. Mr. Carlson’s background demonstrates his innovation and commitment to remote connectivity. In 1999, he founded Carlson Wireless Technologies to carry on developing rural wireless equipment for voice and data. This work led to the development of radio products that now serve communities worldwide in a variety of mission-critical sectors in industry and public safety, for fire and police work applications and other public functions.
“Carl Ford and the Crossfire Media team really hit the nail on the head for choice of session topics and guest speakers.” Jim Carlson continued, “Super Wi-Fi Summit consistently exceeds our expectations by multiples with each passing year, and we are delighted to participate as a presenter and event sponsor in 2014.”
On Wednesday, January 29, at 12:00 pm, Carlson will participate in a panel discussion titled, “Battle of the Devices: White Space and Beyond.” During the session, Carlson and his fellow panelists will explore White Space device production, technical specifications, channel bonding, performance and throughput, future expectations and more. Attendees will be able to see and hear about the latest and greatest radios.
On Thursday, January 30, at 1:30 pm, Carlson will also join a panel titled, “Commercial Rollout of White Spaces in Kenya, South Africa, India, Brazil, Nigeria, Kazakhstan.” Panelists will discuss the acceleration of White Space trials around the world, focused on larger rollouts which are leading to the growth of orders and commercialization. Attendees will learn about the results of the trials, the vendors involved and the future trials coming this year.
“Jim is a clear innovator in the wireless market, and we are very excited to welcome him and Carlson Wireless to Super Wi-Fi Summit,” said Carl Ford, CEO, Crossfire Media, executive director of content, Super Wi-Fi Summit. “His motivation to revolutionize rural wireless communications is inspiring and attendees will gain tremendous insight as he shares his knowledge on White Space technology and best practices.”
