Planet Fitness Clubs Fight Hunger with Charitable Promotion

Norwalk, CT - On Friday, December 6th, Planet Fitness presented Foodshare and Connecticut Food Bank with a $17,482.79 donation to be shared by each charity respectively. Jordan Nyberg, events coordinator of Foodshare accepted $2,429.80 for the Hartford and Tolland Counties they represent and Nancy Carrington, the president & CEO of Connecticut Food Bank accepted $15,052.99 for all remaining counties in Connecticut.

 

Planet Fitness, the innovative health club franchise known for its Judgment Free Zone® and affordable prices partnered this November with Connecticut Food Bank and Foodshare – two local organizations that share in the mission to provide nutritious food to people in need. Starting on November 3rd through November 13th, new Planet Fitness members were invited to name the amount of their enrollment fee starting as low as $5. One hundred percent of the enrollment fees were then donated to Connecticut Food Bank or Foodshare. Additionally, participating locations collected non-perishable food items for each of the food banks in bulk collecting a total of 7,280 lbs worth of food.

 

As part of their commitment to the local community, Planet Fitness franchise owner Jason Price was in attendance to present Connecticut Food Bank and Foodshare with a $17,482.79 total donation from a November promotion. “We are thrilled to partner with Connecticut Food Bank and Foodshare to help provide nutritious food to those who need it most, especially during the holiday season when there is increasing demand for food assistance.” stated Price “Many thanks go to our new members who reached out and gave with their hearts.”

Foodshare estimates that $1 donated can provide 3 meals. The total Planet Fitness donation yielded approximately 52,500 meals for Connecticut families in need this holiday season.
