Galaxy of Gourmets for STAR March 6th at Aitoro's

Aitoro’s Appliance Showroom in Norwalk will host “Galaxy of Gourmets for STAR”, a casual, family-friendly fundraising event that includes music, mingling and  tastings of gourmet food and drinks from restaurants in Fairfield County showcased in their dream kitchens.  The event will be held at 401 Westport Avenue in Norwalk on Thursday, March 6 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Honorary Chairpersons for the event include Assaf and Rebecca Ben-Atar of Norwalk, David and SarahTaylor of Wilton, George Santangelo of Wilton, and Cheryl Henchar of Stamford. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $40 at www.STARct.org or by calling Megan Johnson at 203-846-9581 x339. Advanced reservations are preferred, but tickets will be available at the door. 

 

Participating restaurants include SoNo Brewhouse, KAZU Sono, Osteria Romana, Michael Joseph’s Restaurant and Catering of Darien, Olivette, Anna’s Cakery, Dolce of Norwalk, Saffron, Dash of Salt Catering, Pontos Taverna and Romanacci. Restaurant chefs plan to prepare specialties onsite such as homemade cavatelli pasta with vodka sauce, chicken biryani, vegetable pullao, crab cakes, assorted salmon, avocado and tuna sushi rolls, pulled pork sliders and chocolate kahlua, red velvet and white almond cupcakes, among other specialties.

Musical groups performing at the event include STAR’s own Rubberband, a light rock and roll group of performers with developmental disabilities and staff members from STAR. Also, the event includes a special performance by Bobby and The Extras. In addition, the myriad of television monitors in the showroom will feature assorted STAR videos and there will be a special Chinese auction of desirable wines and restaurant certificates.

All proceeds benefit STAR, Inc., Lighting the Way’s programs and services for  infants, children, adults and seniors who have intellectual and developmental disabilities.

 

STAR Executive Director, Katie Banzhaf, states, “ We are so grateful for the generosity of Tony Aitoro and everyone at his organization in opening the doors to their magical showroom to raise much-needed funds in support of local people who have developmental disabilities. We are lucky to have such compassionate and generous neighbors to help us fulfill our mission and to create such a fun, new event that is certain to attract many of our younger families as well as others who support STAR throughout the year.”
