WWE to Lease Studio Space in Norwalk
Stamford-based company is planning to lease 66,000 square feet of production space at 345 Ely Avenue in South Norwalk, according to published reports.
As Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Linda McMahon — including promises to improve Connecticut's dismal unemployment rate, currently stuck at around 9 percent — her husband Vince McMahon's Stamford-based World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), where she served as CEO up until recently, is planning to lease 66,000 square feet of production space at 345 Ely Avenue in South Norwalk, bringing more jobs to the city, according to published reports.
In a report in The Hour of Norwalk, Kevin Segalla, president of the Connecticut Film Center, and Clay Fowler, principal at Spinnaker Real Estate Partners, the building's landlord, confirmed that the WWE, which is gearing up to launch its own television network next year, will be leasing the space.
However it is unclear as to how WWE plans to use the new space — or how many new jobs the lease will create. A company official quoted in the Hour report said WWE currently has about 50 open positions open but declined to provide figures for additional jobs created through the company's ongoing expansion.
