Visions for Vacancies: 8 Main Street, Redding

The spot formerly occupied by the Georgetown Saloon has been vacant since March 2012.

In "Visions for Vacancies," Patch is asking community members—residents, village merchants and visitors—what they'd like to see in the space. Tell us in the comments!

What kind of restaurant would you like to see open in the space formerly occupied by the Georgetown Saloon, a staple of Redding's Main Street for more than 30 years?

Since March 2012, the space at 8 Main Street has remained unoccupied. What kind of restaurant is lacking in Georgetown? Would another type of establishment be more welcomed?

Trivia would be so great!

Panificio Navona in Bethel needs a better location (an industrial park is less than ideal) and it is just like the place Grizzled Vet described.

No smart business person in their right mind would open a rest/bar in this space. The entire building is unsafe. Ten years ago it was rotting from inside out. It hasn't magically improved since then. It's a tear down folks.

OMG- where are we?? "Portlandia"?? Nothing like another place where freelance 'bloggers" take up table space with their laptops and nurse a latte for 12 hours! Starbucks may be profitable but this doesn't sound like a good small business plan. Plus why not something fun?!! I'd rather see a place full of local characters, foot-stomping music and- OK I'll go along with trendy "Gastropub" food.

I do like the foot-stomping music!
