This is How the Cupcake Crumbles: Crumbs Stores All Close

The Crumbs Bake Shop chain closes all stores, including one in Westport and others in Stamford and Greenwich, after financial struggles.

The Crumbs Bake Shop chain announced Monday that it's closing all of its stores, and that includes one at 40-44 Post Rd. E. in downtown Westport.

The New York City-based copcake company has been struggling. Last week it was delisted from NASDAQ, according to WNTH-TV. A Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing is expected soon.

Employees were told on Monday. A representative for Crumbs could not immediately say how many workers were affected or how many stores it had remaining on its last day.

“Regrettably Crumbs has been forced to cease operations and is immediately attending to the dislocation of its employees while it evaluates its limited remaining options,” the company said in an emailed announcement, as reported by WNTH.
