On Thursday morning, 7-Eleven says it's giving away free coffee for the asking. The chain has one store in the area—at 247 Main Ave.

The chain of convenience stores has announced that "Customers who visit participating stores between 7 and 11 a.m. Sept. 29 will receive a free medium-size cup of hot coffee … or cappuccino … or latte, while supplies last."

7-Eleven claims to be "the first retailer to offer fresh-brewed coffee in to-go cups, introducing it in their Northeast stores in 1964."

"Of all its proprietary products," the company said in the announcement, "7-Eleven sells more fresh-brewed coffee than anything else—1 million cups each day. That’s more than 10,000 pots of coffee an hour every hour of every day of the year."

So if you're passing by it, you might want to try it.
