The Beer Garden @ Harbor Point is Closing its Doors in Stamford

Stamford's popular hang-out, The Beer Garden @ Harbor Point, is closing. But don't fret, it's just a temporary closure until relocation.

On Friday, December 20, the location on Stamford's Harbor Point Road will be closing—after having just opened in May—and the garden is inviting everyone to come on down for their goodbye party that same night.

John Heil of Imian Partners, the group that partnered with Building & Land Technology (BLT) said the location was never meant to be permanent and the mobile concept of The Beer Garden is a highlight of its ability to reach more people throughout Fairfield County.

"The Beer Garden @ Harbor Point was originally designed as a 'pop-up' concept, a moveable feast of the senses if you will, and always had a finite shelf life at its current location," said Heil. "We had the idea on our drawing board for a while and when BLT asked us to activate the Harbor Square retail area for 2013 we jumped right in to test the concept."

Heil called the summer collaboration "spectacular" and said the results were ideal, with "great crowds, terrific beer, live music and a superb fleet of food trucks," and said the company is already in talks with a number of potential real estate partners on into where the 2014 iteration will settle. The Westport-to-Greenwich corridor is currently the frontrunner, he said.

"The unique appeal of the concept is that it can and will 'travel'. Marrying a deftly designed space with craft beer, live entertainment and the food trucks is something that we are excited to do throughout Fairfield County over the next few years," Heil said. "We'd really like to thank the community, the press and and all of our wonderful patrons for supporting our endeavor, we had so much fun in the South End this year."

Heil said the next location would be unveiled soon and the company is in discussions with BLT to develop a "grand American Seafood Brasserie & Oyster Bar at a location still to be determined.
