Port Jeff Ferry: Captains To Decide If Ships Will Run.

Ferry service still on schedule through weekend

Representatives at the Port jefferson Ferry say that as of now, they are running normal service but that the captians themselves make the final call if and when Hurricane Irene hits Long Island.

"It's up to the individual captians if they think it's safe to go," said an agent at the ferry's offices in Port Jefferson.

The agent said that if a scheduled run to Bridgeport is canceled they will call everyone with advanced reservations to let them know and give a full refund on the ticket.
