Norwalk Pottery Boutique, Restoration Shop Moves to Stamford

Thomas K. Libby, a pottery boutique that also specializes in antique restorations, will be moving from South Norwalk to the Antiques District in Stamford nearby Canal Street.

Owner Thomas K. Libby said he did not receive the shopping traffic that he had expected in South Norwalk. He moved into his current location at 61 Main Street in Norwalk four years ago.

“There is a lot of interesting energy here, but it is a lot of people meeting up for dinner, drinks or a movie,” Libby said. “People don’t really seem to be in the shopping mind-set around here.

Libby, an Easton resident who began working in restoration shops at age 15, said his online business has progressed over the years since he began dealing on eBay.com in 2001 and on FirstBids.com in 2008.

“I have buddies in Westport and New Canaan and they are in pain, too,” Libby said. “People are becoming more and more comfortable buying online.”

Online buyers have become more trustworthy over the years, as long as the seller provides high-quality pictures and is honest about the condition of the item, Libby said.

Libby said his new location is in the Artisans and Antiques building in the Antiques District in Stamford.
