Metro-North Resumes Regular Service Today

After getting shut down because of damage from Hurricane Irene, Metro-North green lights service.

After coming to a screeching halt due to flooding, fallen trees, and downed power lines on its tracks, thanks to Hurricane Irene, Metro-North green lights regular service on the New Haven main line.

In advance of Hurrican Irene, Metro-North had taken the unprecedented step of shutting down the entire system on Saturday.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority says, however, that service remains suspended due to extensive damage caused by Hurricane Irene on some lines that feed into the New Haven main line and on the Port Jervis Line west of the Hudson River.
