Gifts on the Green Packs a Wide Variety in Small Shop

Tucked away in plain sight, this colorful shop has plenty of parking, a selection of women's accessories, hostess gifts, jewelry, holiday items and handbags...and even unique gifts to make your husband or dad happy.

Ginny Green had always wanted to run a gift shop. After college she worked as a buyer for a large department store in Detroit. Later, she wound up in Fairfield County and was sidetracked by what became a successful three decade career in real estate in Darien, New Canaan and Norwalk.

Fast forward to Patch's visit on Wednesday to "Gifts on the Green," where Green is the manager, and it's immediately evident she is doing something she's good at.

The shop, which served for many years as the church book store called "Angels Book Nook," and for a time was re-named "Standing Stones," is now packed with a thoughtful assortment of gifts.

"I put some color into it, with items like scarves, wallets, jewelry, cards, women's accessories and men's gift items," Green said. "There's also a lot of fair trade items like coffee and chocolate. A lot of people stop in just for those items."

The shop, primarily staffed by volunteers, also stocks religious and spiritual items like crosses and spiritual books.

"We're starting to sell a lot of angels, which were very popular last year." Green said.

All profits from the shop go to the church's community projects and outreach.

"Gifts on the Green" is situated inside the white clapboard house adjacent to St. Paul's on the Green at 60 East Ave.

Gifts on the Green is is open Wednesday to Friday 10:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. Phone: (203) 847-8321 Email: bookstore@stpaulsnorwalk.org
