Health & Fitness

Totally intimidated?….not with Gotta Move!

Stay healthy, fit and have FUN with The Move. Still looking to enjoy that pizza and a bottle of wine yet, stay healthy.....never give up the things you love and enjoy!

Have you ever walked into a health club, studio or even an adult ed class for the first time and felt totally intimidated?  Well, I can assure you–you are not alone!  All of us have had that feeling, even me! Any new class and we enter the room with a whole negative conversation going on in our head.

Here’s how I bet that tape goes, “OMG! Everybody in here is so skinny! They all look like friends.  Why am I here? And they probably all know what they are doing. Maybe I should leave.  Please God, don’t let me make a fool of myself–or worse have people laugh at me. I hope this was not a mistake”  Yep, I know that mental demon all too well and it is one of the top obstacles between you and finding a great fitness class that inspires you.  Overcoming the fear of looking ridiculous, or dropping a weight, missing a move, or dancing out of step is is one of my key goals in helping people get off the couch and into the gym!  I can’t tell you the number of of people who have told me, “I need to get in shape first before I can go to the gym.”

Come again????  Isn’t the gym supposed to help us get in shape?

This “intimidation factor” as I’ll call it, is not your friend.  It is a mental enemy that you need to leave behind! It has no place in your life, none.  Just to help you get your confidence on enough to leave that baggage at home, I have put some Gotta Move! Classes on YouTube for you. This way you can get started in the privacy and safety of your home. I figure that every shy beginner who is afraid they can’t last through a one hour class needs a way to get started that’s easy on the ego – and fun!  Because as I always say to my classes, “If we’re not laughing, then why are we here?”  A little practice at home can go a long way to dropping the intimidation factor.  Check out “therealmove” on YouTube with classes from 7 minutes to half an hour, and there are even two 15 minute relaxation journeys for those who need to de-stress.  No more excuses about the “mean girls” at the gym.  Come have fun with me–the only person I laugh at is myself!  You can start feeling great about yourself immediately.

Hugs,
