'Git Your Pink On' to Support Breast Cancer Awareness

Will you be wearing pink for national "Git Your Pink On Day" on Friday, Oct. 18?

Written by Gary Jeanfaivre
The power of pink will be on full display across the country this Friday for national Git Your Pink On Day.

The effort, on Oct. 18, is meant to raise awareness about breast cancer, which is the most common cancer in women in the United States. And the timing is fitting as October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The CDC reports that, in 2009, (the most recent year numbers are available):

  • 211,731 women and 2,001 men in the United States were diagnosed with breast cancer.

  • 40,676 women and 400 men in the United States died from breast cancer.

'Get in Touch' With the Cause

The Get In Touch Foundation is a Milford, Conn-based organization educating and empowering millions of women and girls around the world through its trademark Daisy Wheel, which walks women through a self breast examination.
