CT Antique Trail Will Promote Local Businesses & Tourism

The State Senate has voted to establish Connecticut antiques trail to identify and market sites in the state where antiques are sold.

Antiquing is a popular hobby in Connecticut, attracting residents and visitors alike to shops all across our state. Setting up this trail is a sensible, inexpensive way to promote local businesses and tourism.

Senate Bill 1015 tasks the Department of Economic and Community Development with establishing the antiques trail. Major antique dealers, communities with several antique shops, and major auction houses will be identified and marketed, so as to highlight and draw business to the antique dealers selling pieces of history all across Connecticut.

Stops along the trail will be promoted with directional signs and other posted notices, as well as a dedicated web site.

The legislation passed the Senate unanimously. It now awaits further action in the House of Representatives.
