South Norwalk Commuters: Give Yourself Extra Time

You'll need some extra time to get to the train with a road-work project starting today at the South Norwalk Metro-North Railroad Station.

Most of us are always running a few minutes late in the morning. So, if you commute out of the or live in the area, make sure you give yourself some extra time.

Monroe Street will be closed under the Metro North Railroad between Chestnut Street and State Street from Monday, Aug. 22 to Friday, Sept., 9, 2011.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation has announced that they need to lower and pave this section of Monroe Street and the railroad station driveway.

There will be detour signs and local traffic will access the railroad facilities from Henry Street or from State Street. Parking garage egress will be maintained with exiting traffic going toward Martin Luther King Drive.

Access to business and residential parking off Monroe Street will be maintained with access from State Street. Pedestrian traffic on Monroe Street and Railroad Station Driveway will be maintained at all times.

This work is part of an ongoing project to replace bridges and catenary lines on the New Haven Line between South Norwalk & Stamford.
