The Community Economic Development Fund’s Small Business Training Institute will offer a series of four classes entitled “Understanding Business Finances and Tax Related Issues to Maximize Your Small Business Profit” beginning in mid-February.
Workshop topics include understanding financial statements, making income projections, different accounting methods that work best for your business, different kinds of taxes affecting your business, and your filing responsibilities and deadlines.
These workshops are a perfect complement to the hundreds of millions of dollars in job and economic investments the legislature made back in October. As local entrepreneurs add jobs and grow their businesses, these classes will help them to navigate their financial responsibilities and, in turn, maximize their profits.
“People need to learn how to upgrade their business skills in order to re-tool for the new economy, and these classes will help them do that,” said CEDF President and CEO Donna Wertenbach.
The four classes will be held from 6:30 until 9 p.m. on February 21, 22, 27 and 28 at Norwalk City Hall, 125 East Avenue. Participants are expected to attend all four classes to receive full credit and a certificate of successful completion. Seating is limited to 20 attendees, so early registration is a must! Registration and payment must be received prior to the start of the first class session.
Register online or return a registration form with payment to: CEDF, 965 East Main Street, Meriden, CT 06450. The cost is $45 for CEDF clients (see list of partner organizations at www.cedf.com) and $70 for all other Connecticut small businesses.
