Helping the Fire Victims Fund

Supporting the Fire Victims Fund

This week, I joined with Norwalk Fire Chief Denis McCarthy and Michael Chowaniec from Cablevision as Cablevision presents a check to the Fire Victim Relief Fund at the main firehouse on Fairfield Avenue.

The Fund was created three years ago to help families displaced by house fires. The Fund uses donations to purchase gift cards, which are then used to purchase food, clothing and other basic needs. The disbursement of funds are accurately maintained by the Office of Emergency Management and are available for examination at any time.

When someone loses their possession because of a fire, it is usually one of their darkest hours. Norwalk's Bravest have shown that they are not only there during the fire, but afterward as well.
