The oral tradition of the fairy tale came long before the written page. Tales were told or enacted dramatically, rather than written, and handed down from generation to generation. From the Brother’s Grimm, to Mother Goose,
to Walt Disney, the fairy tale continues to evolve. BTC’s New Works program has added to that trend by presenting fairy tale themed works by local playwrights with a sexy
adult twist to them.
The evening conceived and directed by Brian Michael Riley, Director of New Works for Bridgeport Theatre Company, contains a collection of short, 10-15 minute adult themed, modern works that are based in the folklore and fairy tale
genre that promise not only to entertain but to excite and delight. BTC received over 20 submissions from local
playwrights and chose 5 one act plays to present: Baby Bear Becomes a Man, by Vanessa David, Happily Ever After, by Michael McGuire, The King, by Jack Rushen, The Lost Boy, by Jason Parry, and Grounded,
developed by BTC’s New Works. Additional material composed of short stories and poems includes: Hoodlum, by Christian Cole-Howard, The Pied Piper by Stefanie DeLeo, The Better to See You, by Laura Natusch, and In the Eye of the Storm by Debbie Alter.
These racy on-stage selections will feature local actors Gary Blomberg, Rachel Rothman-Cohen, Ryan Hendrickson, Vic Terenzio, Noah Rodriguez, Joan
Barere, Bryna Kearney, Richard Mancini , Aubrey Kyburz, Sean Reynolds, Peter Wood, Jenifer Menedis, Alisson Wood, Heather Abrado, Lucy Babbitt, Kevin Pelkey, Christian Cardozo and more. The evening will be filled out with music by 930 Moon, the talents of Bridgeport’s Double Up Dance Group, and of course, in honor of the Halloween weekend, a fairy tale themed costume contest with
prizes for “Sexiest Fariytale Costume”, “Most ‘Bad-Ass’ Fairytale Costume”, and “Most Creative Fairytale Costume.”
