3. STORE CLOSING SALE

Deal: All Rugged Bear stores are going out of business. See for details, or just stop in to the Darien store for up to 50 percent off all merchandise.

4. SOCIAL GROCERY SAVINGS

Deal: If you’re as addicted to Facebook as I am, you'll appreciate the Social Grocery app. “Like” the Social Grocery page and watch the savings roll in. From fully digital coupons, to seeing what your friends recommend, to recipe suggestions, this is a fully-loaded app. Some of the Shoprite coupons being featured right now are $1.00 off Shoprite non-aspirin and cold tablets, and .74 cents off Yoplait products.

Good through: No end date listed

5. A SALE AND A SUGGESTION

Deal: Shoprite is offering a two-pound bag of frozen tilapia for $5.99.  It’s healthy, it’s individually frozen so you can use as much or as little as you like at a time, and my preschoolers love it. Not sure what to do with it? Thaw it in the fridge or under running water, then try this family-friendly recipe or, for chicken nugget lovers, try this one

Good through: March 12, 2011

6. ST. PATRICK’S DAY DINNER

Deal: Shoprite also has corned beef for sale. I’d include a recipe, but to be honest I just don’t make corned beef well. What will I do? I’ll take advantage of Shoprite’s fully-cooked St. Patrick’s Day dinner. The dinner costs $14.99 and serves 2-3 people. Included in the meal will be one-pound sliced corned beef, one-pound steamed cabbage, and one-pound red bliss potatoes. Since my kids won’t actually eat any of that, I’ll also pick up a loaf of Irish soda bread for $2.99. You can order the dinner here. Make sure to give them 72 hours advance notice.

Good through: March 19, 2011

7. WINTER ATHLETIC APPAREL

Deal: Runner’s Roost in Darien is offering 70 percent off all Men’s and Women’s winter apparel and Soleus Watches at 60 percent off. Note that this sale cannot be combined with other discounts or coupons, and all sales are final.

Good through: While supplies last

8. RESTAURANT DISCOUNTS

Deal: Costco’s gift card kiosk includes restaurant cards for Coromandel, Barcelona, and California Pizza Kitchen. Buy two $50 gift cards for $79.99which means a savings of $20. My suggestion? Instead of actually giving them as a gift, treat yourself to a few discounted dinners.

Good through: As long as the kiosk lasts. You know Costco…

9. FREE COOKING CLASS

Deal: If you like the food at Strada 18, you'll love the free cooking demonstration they are teaching at the Norwalk Library on Monday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Learn how to make delicious bruschetta and fresh pasta.  Registration is not required.

Good through: Only Monday, March 14

10. APPLIANCE MARKDOWNS

Deal: If you need any new appliances, now is a good time to buy. Aitoro’s is holding its “Mad Dash for March Markdowns” sale. The store is providing significant markdowns as well as $200 rebates on select appliances.
