'The Words of a Brain-Dead Movie Character'

The day's most interesting comments from Patch users in your town and neighboring communities.

FAIRFIELD: “The sad part of losing a February break is really for the parents and kids to have some "down time" during our bleak winters. I don't ski nor go anywhere tropical, but it is nice to have a break from the school calendar. I think there will still be parents who like this week who will travel with the 4 day weekend - they will tack on another day or 2 or possibly the week. I don't like the kids sitting for 4 extra days in June for 1/2 days of movies and games (and yes that is what is done EVERY year on these extra days)...but it is a nice reprieve for everyone to have a break in February.” This was one Fairfield reader’s response to in 2012-2013.

NEW CANAAN: “Excellent. Nothing like living your life according to the words of a brain-dead movie character.” This was one New Canaan reader’s response to another reader’s comment on a blog post by staff at about setting behavior .

NORWALK: “The biggest misconception of faith and Christianity is that it is an exclusive club. If you look at it from God's perspective, every quarterback, better yet, every player is "God's" player whether they believe in Him or not. The idea that Tebow is using his faith as a tool to best other players or teams cheapens the perception of Christianity. Tebow relys on the Lord for everything but that doesn't mean he's going to be perfect on the field, what it means is that he can provide leadership and guidance on and off the field through his actions, his attitude, and through his humility. One thing other players should not do is confuse the meekness of Tebow for weakness, he's still going to try and run you over on Sunday. As a Christian and a minister I get frustrated with the medias perception of faith and Christianity as if the faith itself is a rarity or something unique to Tebow. There are tons of players in every sport that call Jesus Christ their Lord and Saviour, I challenge those TV cameras to pan to the center of the field after each game and you'll see what I'm talking about.” This was one  Norwalk reader’s response to an article on Denver Broncos quarterback .

WILTON: “You're not getting it straight. You say, 'You are advocating that the town levies a tax on every property owner in Wilton and then hand that money over to the schools.' That is not my position; however, that's what is being done today, at least 70 cents out of every tax dollar, and I believe that much of that money is being squandered on union salaries, benefits, and dues rather than on a high end education for Wilton's children. Thus, when asked, I suggest that the schools be taken private in order to cut out endless governmental edicts as well as union involvement. Children of Wilton taxpayers would have full access and the costs would likely still be funded via property taxes. As to who supervises all of this, there should stiil be a Board of Ed, but one that is working for the children, their parents, and the town, not the federal and state bureaucrats and unionistas.” This was one Wilton reader’s response .
