A CRAFT & A STORY

  • When: Wednesdays at 4 p.m. for ages 2-5 and Fridays at 4 p.m. for kindergarten to grade 3
  • Where: Norwalk Public Library, Children's Room
  • Why Go: Children’s librarian Evelyn Cunningham puts together a fantastic craft each week and reads a related story to the children. Last week, participants read a St. Patrick’s Day story, made Shamrocks and decorated cupcakes with rainbows and gold-covered leprechaun hats. This activity is well worth your time.
  • Price: Free

Wii JUST DANCE

  • When: Friday, March 25, 4 to 5 p.m.
  • Where: Norwalk Public Library, Teen Center
  • Why Go: The library isn’t a boring place.  It's a place where you can hone your dance skills in a fun, no-pressure environment. This is perfect for those of you who don’t own a Wii.
  • Price: Free

BEHIND THE SCENES TOUR OF THE AQUARIUM

  • When: Saturday, March 26, 8:15 a.m.
  • Where: Maritime Aquarium
  • Why Go: This tour provides a rare opportunity for visitors to “enjoy a special backstage look at how the sharks, seals, river otters and hundreds of other aquatic species are kept happy, healthy and well-fed.” Participants must be at least 10 years old; under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Reservations are suggested.

MULKERIN SCHOOL OF IRISH DANCE

  • When: Saturday, March 26, 2 p.m.
  • Where: Stepping Stones
  • Why Go: The website encourages you to come “enjoy traditional Irish dancing presented by area dancers.”
  • Price: Included with general admission ($12 adults and children over age 1, $10 seniors, members free)

CLICK, CLACK, MOO ON STAGE

  • When: Sunday, March 27, performances at 1 and 4 p.m.
  • Where: Westport Playhouse
  • Why Go: The website boasts that this is a “hilariously ‘moooo-ving’ musical based on the Caldecott Honor Book by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin. Finding a laptop in their cold barn, shivering cows type requests for blankets to Farmer Brown – or they’ll go on strike!”

SLITHER AND SHIMMY WITH THE STAMFORD ORCHESTRA

  • When: Sunday, March 27, 1 and 2:30 p.m.
  • Where: Stamford Nature Center
  • Why Go: The website invites you to “Slink along with the Symphony woodwinds and listen as their music makes you want to shake, slither, shimmy and dance! Then visit your snake, toad and lizard friends at the SM&NC and see how they get moving to the music. Stamford Symphony's 45-minute interactive programs are child-focused, and strive to capture young imaginations in many special ways. Concerts are geared for children aged 4 to 8, and encourage all to get up-close-and-personal with the musicians. Children will have a blast discovering which instruments honk, whistle, pluck or bang!”
