Oronoque Farms Brings 'A Lot of Stuff' to SoNo Marketplace

The Oronoque Farms booth at the South Norwalk Marketplace is eye-catching because of its size and its variety.

"We have pies, we have local honey, jams, jellies. We have jewelry," Oronoque Farms employee Kara Canfield said. "We have a lot of stuff."

The Shelton-based store is at the SoNo Marketplace, located at 314 Wilson Ave., every weekend all weekend, Canfield said.

She said the best part of being at the marketplace is seeing the scope of goods.

"There's a wide variety of different unique crafts," Canfield said.

Oronoque Farms' goods are handmade, making it a good fit for the farmers' market, but despite that, business hasn't been great this summer, she said.

"It's been slower now that it's been warmer out but it's starting to pick up," Canfield said.

Canfield said the problem isn't the weather, though.

"People don't know about us, about here (SoNo Marketplace)," she said.

Canfield said the store's location in Shelton, 188 Leavenworth Rd., has even more of the goods it brings to the market, as well as a full bakery.

The SoNo Marketplace is open every weekend from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
