Letter carriers in Norwalk will be collecting nonperishable food items during their rounds on Saturday.
Norwalk residents should have already received paper bags from their mail carriers and can fill those with food items to donate if they wish.
The letter carriers will pick up the bags when they drop off the mail Saturday, according to a United States Postal Service employee at the Washington Street branch. Just leave the bags near your mailbox.
Those who would rather bring donated food directly to the Washington Street USPS location may do so -- just bring the donations to the back loading dock, the employee said.
The nonperishable food donations will benefit local shelters.
