Five Summer Sailing Programs

For people living on the shoreline, the following summer sailing programs for kids will allow them to enjoy the benefits of being on the coast, as well as learn about boating and marine life. Ahoy matey.

* Sound Sailing Center, 54 Beach Road, Norwalk Cove Marina, 838-1110. The Dory’s Program is for children ages 6 to 13, and runs from June 27 to Sept. 2. Kids will learn to sail from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, and the weekly cost is $350.

* Norwalk Yacht Club, 10 Nathan Hale Drive, at Wilson Point, 866-0941. The Norwalk Junior Sailing Program is for ages 8 to 17, and runs from June to August. They were still working on the pertinent details at press time.

* , 260 Compo Road South, Westport, 226-4646. This sailing school offers a variety of programs for children ages 9 and up. They will also learn about water safety, weather, and tides. Programs run at various times from June through August. The cost for the Start Boating Right course is $405, or $375 for Westport residents.
