Beware of Plunging Temperatures and Dangerous Wind Chills
With temps in the mid 50°s Monday, evening will bring temperatures in the single digits, and even sub-zero temps when wind chill is factored in.
The National Weather Service is forecasting dangerous wind chills Monday night into Tuesday in Norwalk. The wind chill advisory is in effect from midnight until to 6:00p.m. on Tuesday.
NWS forecasts temperatures in Norwalk will fall to around 41° by 5:00p.m. on Monday with south wind 13 to 16 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%.
The NWS warns that Monday night, temps will have a low around 7° with wind chill values as low as -8° and wind gusts as high as 44 mph.
NWS forecasts Tuesday as mostly sunny, with a high near 11°. Wind chill values as low as -14° with wind gusts as high as 44 mph.
Prolonged exposure to the bitter cold and wind could lead to frostbite and hypothermia.
A wind chill advisory means that very cold air and strong winds will combine to generate low wind chills and result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. The NWS warns that if you must venture outdoors, make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
