YWCA Darien/Norwalk Upcoming Events

The YWCA Darien/Norwalk is located at 49 Old Kings Highway North and offers a variety of programs for women in lower Fairfield County. It is dedicated to giving women the support and tools they need to transform their lives, be confident in their choices and raise healthy families. Take Mom to Yoga

An evening yoga class for moms and kids of elementary school age held in the YWCA Dance Studio.

Yoga instructor Talita Moss has created a unique program where moms and kids bond over learning yoga poses and body awareness. This class is an opportunity to have quality time with your child in a relaxing environment. A 4-session package can be used consecutively or as your schedule permits. Classes take place on Wednesdays, from 6:15-7:15pm. Registration is ongoing.

5th Annual Women of Distinction Luncheon

Save the date: women selected will be honored at the Annual Women of Distinction Awards Luncheon on Thursday, May 29th at the Woodway Country Club in Darien.  This award is a wonderful opportunity to honor women who have made a significant contribution to our local, national, and global communities.

 

Children’s Painting Workshop

Painting classes for children ages 5 through 12, take place during vacation week, Monday, April 14th through Friday, April 18th from 9:30am to noon. Professional artist, Rowana Shepard, will teach children painting technique, color use and composition, while inspiring creativity and an enjoyment of the artistic process. Space is limited. 

 

YW Stand Against Racism Film Festival

The YW will hold a film festival at the Darien Library during YWCA Stand Against Racism Week, April 21st through 26th, showcasing documentaries, mainstream, and classic films that present cultural insights, through-provoking issues, and the strength & resolve of people faced with personal challenges and/or injustice.  For schedule of films and show times, please visit ywcadariennorwalk.org/special-events/sar-2014. This event is free to the community.

 

Gardening Classes with Sara McCool

Sara McCool, the highly sought after Darien-based landscaper with Ungemack McCool Landscape Associates, returns to teach Landscape Design and Practice. Classes will start Monday, April 21st for evening classes (7:00pm – 8:30pm) and Wednesday, April 23rd for morning classes (8:30am – 10:00am).  Sara will also be teaching a one-day Outdoor Green Garden class on Saturday, April 26th (9:00am – 10:30am) and a Perennial Garden class on Saturday, May 17th (9:30am – 11:00am).  Registration is required.  Visit ywcadariennorwalk.org for more info.
