YOUNG WILTON FILMMAKER’S FILM INTO THE MANHATTAN FILM FESTIVAL

Is it the proximity to New York City that breeds such an abundance of talent in Fairfield County or is it something in the water? Whatever the reason, Ila Duncan, 23-year old filmmaker from Wilton, is certainly one of the most talented of Fairfield County’s burgeoning talent pool. Along with her father, Woodson Duncan, Ila established Judith Studios to produce the films she both directs and writes. “Janie Charismanic” is her second feature film (“I Hate Tom Petty” being the first from Judith Studios) and features Josie Marie Smith in the title role along with Anthony Marks and Eric Roberts in a cameo appearance as “Max” the artist friend.

When Duncan was told that her film was accepted into the Manhattan Film Festival, she could only imagine that this would be just the beginning of what will surely prove to be a prolific career in filmmaking for the Wilton resident. Duncan filmed the movie on location with many of the scenes being shot locally in Fairfield County, the Silvermine Arts Center being one of the locations.
