Norwalk Police will establish a sobriety checkpoint on West Avenue Friday night, beginning at 7 p.m.
Motorists will be stopped and evaluated in an effort to locate persons driving under the influence of alcohol.
Drivers suspected of being intoxicated will be subject to performing a field sobriety test and have their blood-alcohol content measured. In the United States it is illegal to drive with a blood-alcohol content at or above 0.08 percent.
The checkpoint is part of the police department's participation in the national Drunk Driving: Over the Limit. Under Arrest campaign.
