Leah Thelma Hirsch, 43 year resident of Norwalk

Leah Thelma Hirsch 83, wife of the late Hyman Hirsch, passed away Saturday October 13, 2012 at Norwalk Hospital. A 43 year resident of Norwalk she leaves behind her loving children, Timothy Jay Hirsch and Francine Joan Castle. She is also survived by Tim’s daughter and granddaughter, Shealah Marie and Kylie Anne as well as her sister and brother-in-law Celia and Marvin Strow of Long Island, her sister-in-law Eva Cassas of New York, a nephew,  many  nieces, grand-nieces and grand-nephews and a host of good friends.

A woman of strength and determination Leah acquired an associates degree when she was in her fifties, and worked for many years as a dedicated and trusted bookkeeper.

She  was an active member of the Norwalk community as a working member of Haddasah and Temple Beth-El’s Sisterhood, a volunteer at the  local soup kitchen, an usher at several community  theaters and an avid participant in Life Time Learners.

In addition to her volunteerism Leah was a talented and creative producer of the beautiful needlpoints that hang in her home and those of family and friends.

Services will be held at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk, on Tuesday, October 16 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Beth El Cemetery, Richards  Avenue, Norwalk, CT.
