Claire J. Anderson Church Elbert, 82, of Norwalk, wife of the late Frank Elbert, passed away surrounded by family, Friday, June 1, 2012 at Norwalk Hospital.
Born in Norwalk, CT in 1930, she was the daughter of the late Olaf and Gertrude Sheehan Anderson.
Having attended Norwalk High School, Claire later retired from R.T. Vanderbilt in Norwalk. She was also a successful Stanley Home Products Representative for 65 years. In her spare time she enjoyed her memberships at the VFW, DAV, The Eagles, American Legion Auxiliary and Moose Lodge in Bradenton, FL. Claire was also a member of the St. Ann’s Ladies’ Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary in Norwalk, CT.
Claire is survived by her three daughters; Christine Hoermann of Ansonia, Patti Church of Sarasota, FL, and Heidi Elbert of Norwalk, and her son; Tom Church and his wife Arden of Norwalk. In addition, she is survived by her beloved grandchildren; Stacey Allen of Norwalk, Ian Hoermann of Stamford, Kelly Straniti and her husband Artie of Norwalk, Adah Hoermann of New Haven, Damian Rosa of Sarasota, FL, Ashley Dugan of Wilton and Mathew Church of Norwalk. She also leaves behind her six great-grandchildren, her brother Al Anderson of Georgetown, and several nieces and nephews.
Among those awaiting her in Heaven were her step-father Otto Olson and her baby brother Patrick.
Friends may call Monday from 4:00-7:00pm at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 10:00am Tuesday. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk.
