(Milford, CT – March 20, 2012) – The ALS Association Connecticut Chapter (ALSA-CT) today announced that Jennifer J. Gross has been named Director of Development.
With 14 years of nonprofit experience, Ms. Gross will play a key role in The Chapter’s efforts to enhance its Major Donor and Planned Giving programs, oversee planning for three annual Walks to Defeat ALS and other special events, and coordinate The Chapter’s grant writing activities.
“Jennifer is a wonderful addition to the team, and brings a wealth of valuable experience and skills,” said Lauren D’Alessandro, Executive Director of ALSA-CT.
Founded in 1988, ALSA-CT is one of 41 chapters that form a national nonprofit organization dedicated solely to improving the lives of local ALS patients and their families, supporting national advocacy efforts, and finding effective treatments and an ultimate cure for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Relying on contributions from foundations, community groups, corporations and individual donors, ALSA-CT served approximately 234 ALS patients and families at no charge across the state of Connecticut in 2011.
Ms. Gross previously served as Deputy Director at the Eastern Regional Mental Health Board in Norwich, CT, where she secured new grant dollars, sustained relationships with funders, and advocated for quality mental health services and social inclusion for those with psychiatric disabilities.
Ms. Gross has also worked for the Ocean Community YMCA in Westerly, RI and for Sound Community Services in New London, CT, and has extensive experience in coordinating fundraising and public relations efforts, working with donors and volunteers, and planning special events. While at Sound Community Services, she created and carried out a comprehensive social marketing campaign designed to fight prejudice in the community towards those with mental illnesses.
Ms. Gross earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree at The College of William and Mary in Virginia and is a resident of Ledyard, CT.
