6 Things to Know & Places to Go Thursday in Norwalk
Here are six things know and where to go in and around Norwalk for Thursday, Oct. 3:
- At 6 p.m. Thursday, a reception for Dr. Manuel J. Rivera, Norwalk’s new school superintendent of schools, takes place at Norwalk Public Library.
- At 7 p.m. Thursday, Norwalk Public Library will present a discussion panel about college for students and parents. Speaking will be Dan Sullivan of the Norwalk High School guidance office and Cathy Zales of Next Chapter College Consulting, according to an announcement on the Norwalk Public Library website
- On Thursday night, join the second-annual Ladies Night of Glitter & Glam to Save Second Base hosted at Nagi Jewelers to benefit the Bennett Cancer Center in Stamford. "Preview our new fall Collections, experience the shamanic healing powers of Eve Kerwin, Tarot Readings, and fabulous fare as always."
- The Bijou Theater’s Film Festival and Oktoberfest takes place Thursday through Sunday, Oct. 3 to 6 in Bridgeport, featuring independent documentaries and German festivities. Oktoberfest will be run and catered by Old Heidelberg German restaurant of Bethel, with 'hearty cuisine, wide selection of German Beer, and Bavarian atmosphere." Music will be provided by Darik and the Funbags and What Up Funk. - In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Sabita Holistic Center in Westport is offering one free 30 minute therapeutic massage to patients and survivors.
- At 7 and 9:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 3, the "Manhattan Short Film Festival" will take place at Bowtie Cinema's Landmark Square Theaters in Stamford, among other places around the world. At each venue, audiences who see the films get to vote on them to decide the winner.
