The Brien McMahon boys basketball team was unable to play spoiler for the second straight game as the Senators concluded a disappointing season with a 63-55 loss to Bridgeport Central on Wednesday.
The victory allowed the Hilltoppers to grab the No. 8 seed for the FCIAC playoffs. Central (11-8, 10-8) will face top seed and unbeaten St. Joseph in the quarterfinals on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Fairfield Ludlowe.
McMahon concluded the season at 4-16 and 4-14.
On Monday, the Senators rallied from a 21-point deficit to end Staples' FCIAC playoff hopes with a 64-62 win over the Wreckers.
