Job Seeker Punches Bar Manager
Reacts to being told the establishment had no job openings.
A former employee of the Black Bear Saloon on Washington Street allegedly punched the bar's kitchen manager Sunday morning after being told there were no job openings he could apply for.
The bar’s manager told police the perpetrator had worked there four or five years ago before resigning. He said when the man entered, he identified himself and then took him to meet the kitchen manager.
The kitchen manager said the man had the smell of alcohol on his breath and appeared intoxicated. He said when he told him they weren’t hiring, the man punched him on the left side of his face and then walked out of the establishment.

Police said the manager’s face was bleeding and he reported being in a lot of pain.
The victim is a 33-year-old Norwalk resident.

Police were notified of the assault at 80 Washington St. in South Norwalk at 12:12 a.m.
Police spokesman Lt. Praveen John said the officers investigating the incident would apply for an arrest warrant for the assailant.
