Bridgeport Man Arrested for Punching Pregnant Ex-Girlfriend

The suspect also allegedly left the victim threatening phone messages, according to police.

 

A 41 year-old Bridgeport man was arrested on Friday for allegedly leaving threatening messages on his ex-girlfriend's phone and punching her on the head, according to police.

The victim, was pregnant at the time, told police that on Feb. 21, she got into an argument with James Edwards of 308 Westfield Ave. after she was late picking him up from the train station, according to police, and it was then that he struck her. After the two ended their relationship, the victim said that Edwards proceeded to call her one day up to 16 times in a period of three hours and left threatening messages on her voicemail.

Edwards was arrested and charged with breach of peace, assault and second-degree harassment. His bond was set at $7,500 and he was was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
