Ash Creek Saloon to host SPINODYSSEY fundraiser
On Thursday, February 17th, visitors to the Ash Creek Saloon in Norwalk will have the chance to enjoy an evening of fine southwestern-style dining while helping a good cause. From 6 p.m. until closing, the Saloon will donate 10% of its revenue to SPINODYSSEY, the fun and fitness fundraiser for American Cancer Society breast cancer research taking place March 6th at Intensity, 490 Westport Avenue, in Norwalk. The Ash Creek Saloon is located at 2 Wilton Avenue in Norwalk.
The Ash Creek Saloon event will be hosted by the “Cycle Paths,” a team of indoor cyclists led by New York Sports Club fitness trainer Jessica Bondell. The team consists of Ms. Bondell’s Spinning students and others who will ride together for up to six hours during the indoor cycling component of SPINODYSSEY.
“The Ash Creek Saloon is excited to partner with the ‘Cycle Paths’ Spin team in support of SPINODYSSEY 2011 and its mission to raise funds for breast cancer research,” stated Pauline Edwards of the Ash Creek Saloon. “It gives our restaurant and our customers a great way to give back to the community through an event that inspires people to join the fight against a devastating disease that touches so many of us.”
According to Ms. Bondell, members of the Cycles Paths team are preparing for the March 6th event by training on their own and by taking part in special SPINODYSSEY training sessions hosted by health clubs throughout Fairfield and Westchester Counties. The sessions are designed to help SPINODYSSEY riders withstand the rigors of the two-to-six hour indoor cycling event.
“The Cycle Paths includes riders of all ages and skill levels,” said Ms. Bondell. “In addition to supporting a great cause, SPINODYSSEY has given our team members the incentive to set and train for a specific fitness goal, ranging from having the endurance to ride for two hours or to conquer the ultimate challenge of riding the entire six hours.”
SPINODYSSEY participants are asked to raise $300 in pledges for every one hour they Spin or participate in a number of other fitness activities that are part of the one-day event. Monies raised at the February 17th Ash Creek Saloon event will be included as part of the Cycle Path’s team fundraising totals which will, in turn, be used to support American Cancer Society breast cancer research.
“SPINODYSSEY is grateful for the support of the Ash Creek Saloon and the Cycle Paths Spin team in our mission to raise funds in the fight against breast cancer,” stated SPINODYSSEY co-chair Patty Kondub. “They, and our other teams and corporate sponsors, are the reason SPINODYSSEY has been able to raise more than $2.5 million dollars in the fight against breast cancer research since our first event in 2000.”
Ms. Bondell added, “We encourage everyone to come to the Ash Creek Saloon on February 17 to enjoy good food and drinks while helping a great cause.”
